Cloud computing will be one of the standouts at Latinoware 2012

The practice of storing files in hard disks seems to have its days counted through the popularization of the cloud computing concept. This technology that enables users to access their files virtually is one of the standout topics at the Latin American Open Source Software Conference (LATINOWARE 2012), which will be held between October 17 and 19th at the Itaipu technological Park (PTI) in Foz do Iguaçu (PR).

The event is considered one of the sector’s main in Latin America and should break the record for number of participants, exceeding the over 4000 registrations achieved in the last edition. In order to speak about cloud computing, the guest speaker will be Frank Karlitschek (on the left), founder of OwnCloud Inc. and considered one of the world’s top specialists on the issue.

In addition, a number of “tribes” and communities from all over Brazil should participate in the LatinoWEB space in the conference, presenting success cases in the use of open source software for web development in institutional and business environments, in addition to applications for mobile devices, social networks and e-commerce.

Google, world leader in Information Technology, will also be present at Latinoware, represented by a software engineer Ron Minnich – developer of Coreboot, open source software created to replace the BIOS found in the main computers – as well as two other area specialists.

This will be the conference’s ninth edition – organized every year by Itaipu Binacional, Foundation PTI, The Federal Data Processing Service (SERPRO) and the State of Paraná Informatics Company (CELEPAR) – and should serve as stage for discussions around a wide variety of sector related topics.

The event has as target audiences members of the community, users of software, developers, students, researchers, representatives from government and private initiative, and any who share a common interest in the expansion in the deployment of open source software.

In addition to lectures and mini–course, the conference will also count with a space for exhibition, dedicated to the launch of books and support materials for open source software projects and sustainable technologies. In addition to this, Latinoware carries on with its focus on promoting the technological integration of Latin America, presenting success cases that can be replicated in different countries.

Latinoware 2012

In October, Foz do Iguaçu will, once again, be the venue for the Latin American Open Source Software Conference – Latinoware 2012. Around 4000 people, among students, professionals and specialists from the area are expected for the ninth edition of the event, to be held between October 17 and 19 at the premises of the Itaipu Technological Park (PTI), located at Itaipu power plant.

Promoted by Itaipu Binacional, Foundation Itaipu Technological Park – Brazil, The State of Paraná Informatics Company (CELEPAR) and the Federal Data Processing Service (SERPRO), Latinoware is an event that opens up space for discussion and reflection on the deployment of open source software in Latin America, in addition to promoting the integration and valuing for Latin America.

As in previous editions, Latinoware is expected to break the audience record and, once again, will be the stage for a number of international celebrities and representatives from public and private agencies of different countries of Latin America to present their solutions in Open Source Software.

To this end, the Latinoware 2012 program will include lectures, roundtables and workshops around themes linked to information and communication technologies, supported by open source software systems developed in the continent.
